Receipt Hunting

There's a scam I used to do where I would get a cash receipt for an item, go jack the item, then return it with the receipt for cash. I would do this at a lot of different places, but mainly where it was easy to find receipts. The best places I found were Walgreens and CVSs in North Scottsdale because mostly old people shop there, buy stuff with cash, then throw the receipts away outside the door. This involved a lot of work like getting the whole trash bag, replacing it with an empty one, and taking it off the property. Then going through the entire contents item by item and separating out the receipts. Then tossing the card purchases or any cash purchase that had a store savings card attached to it (when returning the items, they ask for the phone number tied to the savings account and usually won't do it unless you can verify) then I would need to look up the item and make sure I knew what it was and as long as it was an easier boost, go get it (easy stuff were batteries and otc medicines) go to one store to "get" the items and another to return them. It was a hefty bit of traveling and while it was consistent, it wasn't a lot of money.

I am not saying this to boast or brag by any means. What I did was wrong, and flat out stupid. it was so much work and travel time for very little payout. What I see now is it is SO much easier and less hassle just to work a normal job and earn the money. In my addiction, there was some dark force preventing me from realizing this. A black blanket spread over so I could not see truth and light.

Today I am grateful I don't have to sort through disgusting trash, be paranoid about stealing stuff, and even more paranoid about whether or not the stores are catching on to me. I am grateful that I don't have to spend 6 hours out of my day doing illegal stuff just to get 30-40 bucks.
