So there's this set of terms used in the criminal underworld here in Arizona that I had never heard before I came here. High on meth and feeling invincible, I would be walking around outside and come across things. Things that did not belong to me and things that someone had worked very hard for. Sometimes very random things, like a rake in the back of someones truck, or a lawn ornament. I would take them, or "lerp" them. Sometimes it would be coincidence, while other times I set out on a mission specifically to lerp. I've even seen full live plants and trees lerped out of people's gardens.
Once an item was lerped, if it was of any potential value, I would "cluck" it, or take it to someone to trade for more meth. "Yo man what happened to that Bluetooth sound system you lerped outside of Goodwill the other night?" "Ahh man I clucked it off".
Lerping = theft Clucking = trafficking stolen property
Today I am grateful that I don't lerp and cluck anymore. I'm grateful that I don't feel the need to. I'm grateful that I have enough fun sober and that, while I'm not a millionaire or rich by any means, I have enough money to buy things I want. If it's too expensive, I can save and get it later. Delayed gratification can be very good for the soul.
