Having been a homeless, jobless tobacco user, part of my days used to be spent hunting for and finding "refrys" aka partially smoked cigarettes. There were good spots to check that would consistently have good refrys. Obviously, the more tobacco left on the cigarette, the better find it was. I never considered myself "above it" nor do I look down on people who do it from this side of the fence. It's a behavior that comes with the territory. I am very grateful that I don't have to do it any more. I am grateful that I don't regularly smoke cigarettes (I've had a total of 5 between April 13th and now this year). I do use nicotine in vape form but am currently in the process of tapering down the levels.
