Nelson Mandella spent 18 years at the brutal Robben Island Prison. Since he was a black political prisoner, he had even fewer privileges than other inmates. He lived all those years in a small cell, without a bed or plumbing, receiving less food than others, but forced to work twice as hard. He refused to let any of that break his spirit. It is reported that he ran in place over 7 miles a day in his tiny cell, and maintained an attitude of gratitude. He is one of the most revolutionary people of our time and did a lot of good in the world.
Today I'm grateful for life's hardships, cell running, being born a United States citizen, having a nice squishy pillow to lay my head on, the beautiful Arizona sun, and this wicked San Holo song....
